Contollo Group, the rapidly growing consultancy firm backed by private equity firm NorthEdge, has announced its acquisition of MBA Consulting Engineers. This move aligns with Contollo’s strategy to establish itself as a leading multidisciplinary consultancy in the built environment. The acquisition marks another milestone in Contollo’s ambitious plan to consolidate top-tier regional firms into a single powerhouse.
Contollo: Ambition in Action
Founded to redefine consultancy in the construction industry, Contollo Group aims to build a national network of experts across various disciplines. With financial backing from NorthEdge, a private equity firm managing £900 million in assets, Contollo is setting its sights on transformative growth in the North West, Midlands, and South East over the next five years. NorthEdge’s focus on businesses with high growth potential ensures that Contollo has the resources and support to scale rapidly.
Ruth Percival, Contollo’s CEO, highlighted the importance of this acquisition:
“MBA complements our vision perfectly. Their expertise in the industrial and logistics sectors aligns with our commitment to delivering sustainable and innovative building solutions. Together, we can help clients achieve their net-zero ambitions and reimagine industrial spaces into people-friendly environments.”
The MBA Legacy and Future
MBA Consulting Engineers, established in 1984 and headquartered in Milton Keynes, is renowned for its work in the logistics and industrial sectors. With 60 employees across Milton Keynes and London, MBA specializes in energy-efficient designs, BREEAM certification, and cutting-edge refrigeration systems. Managing Director Nick Crewe expressed enthusiasm for joining Contollo, emphasizing the shared values and vision between the firms.
“Our partnership with Contollo ensures continuity for our clients while enabling MBA to scale its impact. With Contollo’s resources and collaborative ethos, we are positioned for an exciting future,” Crewe noted.
A Bright Horizon
The partnership brings Contollo’s total workforce to 140 across six offices. This acquisition follows Contollo’s earlier integration of TACE and Abacus, building momentum toward becoming a household name in the consultancy sector. Chief Strategy Officer Gary Gardner and Executive Chair Oliver Dennis have also played key roles in Contollo’s strategic direction, ensuring each acquisition aligns with long-term goals.
The NorthEdge Advantage
NorthEdge’s investment philosophy, centered on collaboration and growth, has been pivotal in Contollo’s success. Their track record of fostering ambitious companies ensures that Contollo remains on an upward trajectory.
With MBA now part of the fold, Contollo is one step closer to realising its vision of a connected, multidisciplinary consultancy delivering transformative results across the UK. As a “new kid on the block,” Contollo’s rise to prominence is certainly one to watch.
