King & Moffatt Building Services has announced the appointment of Paul Briars as its new UK Business Unit Director, a move that highlights the company’s intent to build on its UK market presence with enhanced leadership and strategic momentum.
Paul arrives at King & Moffatt with over twenty years of experience in the building services sector, merging strategic leadership skills with hands-on delivery across large-scale and complex engineering projects. In previous senior roles, Paul has driven growth, improved operational efficiency, and successfully managed both design and delivery aspects of mechanical and electrical services across challenging environments.
King & Moffatt, headquartered in Wolverhampton with a UK turnover of under £54m and employing around 105 people as of its 2024 accounts, is known for its expertise in delivering high-quality mechanical and electrical building services across the UK and Ireland. Their business covers design, installation, maintenance, and specialist services, often with demanding projects in commercial, industrial, residential, and institutional sectors.
As UK Business Unit Director, Paul will lead King & Moffatt’s UK operations, honing business unit strategy, strengthening client-facing delivery, and improving operational performance. His role is expected to include scaling up the delivery pipeline, refining coordination between UK and Ireland teams, enhancing process efficiency, and ensuring King & Moffatt’s offering remains competitive in a rapidly evolving MEP contracting environment.
This appointment comes at a time when King & Moffatt is navigating changes in demands for sustainable systems, energy efficiency, and digital integration in building services. Having achieved nearly £37.4 million turnover in the year to June 2024, the company has seen a decrease from prior years but retains strong net assets and a stable business base.
Paul Briars’ elevation is viewed by many as a solid indicator that King & Moffatt is doubling down on UK growth, service excellence, and delivery performance—factors that will be essential for contractors facing regulatory pressures, cost inflation, and increasing client expectations.
