Andwis Group has agreed to acquire the water hygiene business operated by IWS Water Hygiene from South Staffordshire Plc, marking a significant consolidation in the UK compliance and technical services market. The deal, announced on 28 January 2026, positions Andwis to expand its environmental compliance capabilities and enhance service offerings across multi-site estates nationwide.
The water hygiene business, part of South Staffordshire’s Integrated Water Services (IWS), specialises in water treatment, hygiene risk assessments, legionella control and related compliance solutions. Following a strategic portfolio review, South Staffordshire Plc determined that the division would achieve stronger long-term growth under ownership focused exclusively on compliance services.
Under the transaction, which is expected to complete on 2 March 2026 subject to customary closing conditions, IWS Water Hygiene will join the Andwis Group and operate as Water Hygiene Services Group Limited (WHSG). The business will complement Andwis’s existing technical disciplines, particularly within its Rock Compliance division, and form part of a broader suite of environmental services spanning water, air and asbestos compliance.
Andwis has emphasised its commitment to investing in advanced technology and compliance expertise. With the addition of WHSG, the group now employs more than 700 staff, including around 450 engineers, and aims to deliver integrated, tech-enabled solutions to a wide range of customers across the UK.
Charley Maher, Group CEO of South Staffordshire Plc, said the sale aligns with the company’s strategy to prioritise core utilities and infrastructure markets, while ensuring the water hygiene business benefits from Andwis’s sector alignment and growth ambitions.
The acquisition reflects ongoing consolidation in the technical compliance sector and underscores the growing demand for comprehensive hygiene and safety services within facilities and environmental management.
